I'm following this official link to setup tor service. It's up and running as expected. Problem is I'm not able to get any public IP address to my app.

I'm running fastapi + nginx + tor. Tor forwards traffic to nginx (which is configured to listen only local) and it forwards api calls to fastapi port.

I'd like to know Exitnode IP of every api call in fastapi. But I couldn't figure out how. Whatever trick I do with fastapi or nginx, I'm only getting local ip like 127.0.0.1.tor_port. How to do this?

Do I need to modify tor config?

  • If I understand this correctly, you could just make your program connect to ipinfo.io/json every time you got a new connection to tor. That will return the IP as seen on the public internet
