I'm trying to access my ssh computer, and I'm using torsock before launching such file managers. I can access my local servers, but when I try through tor, they tell me Hostname unknown. Using mc I'm able, but what's the problem with those others ?

With thunar, I get:

random@random:~$ torsocks thunar
1602250705 WARNING torsocks[3361]: [syscall] Unsupported syscall number 39. Denying the call (in tsocks_syscall() at syscall.c:605)
random@random:~$

With pcmanfm I get nothing, but it does not connect (only to LAN servers, normally).

random@random:~$ torsocks pcmanfm
ramdom@random:~$

I think it is a bug, if anyone has similar problem, please tell me.

P.S. Later I will mark this as a bug on address resolutions in these file managers repositories.

  • Torsocks does not support the getpid() system call, which is used by thunar. The patch to allow this call is straightforward: trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/29659. As for why the others don't work, I would need more information about your setup and exactly how it fails to make a guess about that. – Steve Oct 9 '20 at 21:29
