If you're logging it with systemd, are you sure there is no 'default' service like in my earlier comment? So if you run systemctl list-units --type=service | grep [^a-zA-Z]tor the service name isn't [email protected] ?

Thanks for adding that. You haven't posted the tor log yet though which will tell you what the error is. Your torrc file has the line Log notice syslog , so you should check your syslog (I don't know where Arch stores this, so you'll have to look it up) for the tor error messages.

Do you get any output from journalctl -u tor@default ? Can you also post your torrc file (/etc/tor/torrc )?
