On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Alexey Vesnin

I have already been a Tor Stack Exchange moderator, but it was a very big work to do - so I've stepped out just by a timeout :) When I was active I was able to successfully shield up people from 10 countries and I've met them in person after. Now I'm fully back on the network privacy and mesh networks. I used to propose some patches to Tor and later I have started the separated project called HyperSphere. I have 30 years in IT practice and I'll be glad to help the community again as I did before - you can check my Tor.SE profile. I can dedicate 1-2 hours daily day-by-day now - and that's a permanent good change

I nominate myself, Swangie (profilemeta). I truly feel that I would be a responsible, respectful, and fair moderator for this community.

One reason I should be a moderator is because I have the time and energy to moderate this community. I have visited this site around every few hours, for the past 90 days consecutively. With all my time, I will definitely be able to moderate and improve the community.

Along with this, I display responsibility, leadership, and I am a role model to this community. Although I joined only 3 months ago, I have edited over 49 posts (including numerous improvements to tags), helpfully flagged 32 posts, and have cast over 76 votes. I have also reviewed 86 first posts and 19 late answers.

As a sidenote, I am also a strong supporter of the Tor Project and even run my own Tor relay. I also visit r/tor and r/onions and I have a good amount of knowledge on the Tor project.

As you can see, I am committed to supporting this community and as a moderator, I will be able to show my support even more.
